RFP | Community Development | Sustainable Materials Management Plan (SMMP)

Following the recommendation made to the Benton County Board of Commissioners by the SMMP RFP Evaluation Committee and SMMP Task Force on March 5th, 2024, the County will award the contract to the highest-scoring proposer, Resource Recycling Systems, Inc.

The SMMP Evaluation Committee and SMMP Task Force will make a recommendation for the award of the SMMP RFP on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the Board of Commissioners (BOC) Meeting. Please keep an eye on the BOC webpage for the meeting agenda. You may attend this meeting in person or virtually.

Benton County is finalizing the Sustainable Materials Management Planning Task Force (formerly the Ad Hoc Committee) and seeking additional guidance from County Leadership regarding the next steps for this SMMP RFP. Components within the SMMP are very close to Benton County residents’ hearts and we wish to be considerate of their valuable feedback. 

This undertaking is also garnering support and attention from local and State agencies across Oregon. Because of this, the County is taking time to solidify partnerships, identify key players, and assess options for the best path forward to ensure this endeavor is as successful as possible.  

We are treating the RFP process with the utmost consideration, care, and attention, while preserving the procurement process to ensure fairness and transparency.  

Please continue to stand by while we finalize next steps with County and regional leadership. Thank you!

Benton County will open proposals and announce proposers for the Sustainable Materials Management Plan Request for Proposals on November 14, 2023 at 11:00am PST during a virtual Zoom meeting. If you would like to view the proposal opening and proposer announcement, please register in advance for this meeting by clicking here. Notice is hereby given that Benton County, Oregon is seeking Request for Proposals (RFP) from qualified firms for the development of a local/regional Sustainable Materials Management Plan. The general scope of work will address impacts of materials across their complete life cycles, requiring collaboration across jurisdictional and geographic boundaries.
